We are always so very honored when Benita, the owner of BRC Photography, asks us to participate in her photo shoots and work shops. Her talent is absolutely amazing and out of this world, and her personality is all the same. We have gotten close with Benita and we just love her outgoing, caring personality. She truly cares about her business, her clients and her friends. She is always happy and will make you smile ear-to-ear and we share many a laugh. We also love that she takes her talents and the things she has learned and offers them to others, not only in the U.S., but in other countries. In speaking with Benita, I found that the wedding market in other countries isn't as large and Benita loves sharing all of the frils and excitement that we have for weddings here in good ole Oklahoma. We are absolutely in love with Benita's workshop she held in Germany, in Igel, a small quiant area of Germany. The details are impecable and the work is inspiring. The second workshop shown below was taken in Berlin and the romance is just as firey. The romance between the couple is simply amazing. Happy Friday Friends! Man oh man is it cold here in Oklahoma. It is a wintery day, but we are loving the Christmas time jingles and the hott cocoa by the fire. There is something great about this season and it's cheer and customs. In honor of the season's customs we are doing this Accessory 101 session on custom designs. We are showing some of our custom designs that can be paired with your stunning gown. Whether you are that off-beat bride that wants to step out of the box, the country-chic girl that wants something rustic, or that classic bride that wants a show-stopping piece...we have it all and we are certainly the only company to offer custom designs. :) We want your wedding day to be special and we believe that every bride should be able to design that something special to make it fit her style! One of our other favorite custom designs was made for a lovely, sweet bridesmaid. This "rocker chain" is a chic, trendy look that is sure to get attention. With stunning crystal flowers on each side this piece can be unique for any bride or bridesmaid. It can also be pulled in as a custom for many cultural weddings and can be made to suit each custom.

This lovely vintage sash is an absolute to-die-for compliment for the stunning lace dress. This bride wanted to pull in the vintage appeal of her gown by having us create a sash made of vintage brooches. This is another one of our favorites that go great with any lace gown!

This custom design is one of our most sentimental pieces to-date. The bride requested that we use pieces of her mom's wedding gown to create a special sash to go with her gown on her special day. Filled with love and DIY fun, this wedding was made exactly to fit the bride and grooms style. This lovely detailed extravaganza, along with our sweet sash, was featured on Style Me Pretty! Accessory 101 : The Perfect Accessories

Turkey day has come and gone and I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I can still smell the yummy food that was cooked here at our family gathering! :) I hope that you enjoyed your Thanksgiving with family and friends! For this Accessory 101 post we wanted to share some tips on pairing your accessories with your gown. We have already covered the planning portion in the "Getting Organized" post and now we want to move on to deciding what accessories work for your gown. Enjoy!

The Perfect Accessories

Choosing the perfect accessories can be a difficult task. As if picking your gown wasn't hard enough, now you have to choose your statement pieces to compliment your gown. Remember, always pick your gown before picking the accessories, as you don't want to limit yourself. After you pick your gown then you can begin the hunt for accessories that compliment your gown. You want to make sure and play up the gown, not overwhelm it or compete with it. When looking for accessories pull in items from your gown, such as crystals, pearls or tulle. Keep in mind, your dress can have many different looks based on the accessories that you choose. It is important to try several different looks to see what you like better. However, more importantly, so you don't get overwhelmed, pick looks that go with your theme. Below are some tips on how to pair accessories with your gown. We also demonstrate how one gown can have several different looks. All of the accessories below are hand-made by ourselves, so feel free to contact us for questions or to order.

For a dress that has a lot of layering and detail, such as the dress below from the Bridal Boutique in Norman,OK, add a simple brooch or bling to play it up, like in the picture below. This is for a bride that wants to make a simple statement and draw attention to the gown without overpowering the look. Also, to keep the simple look, pair it with a birdcage veil and give it soft, glam look. This dress has a romantic feel with layers of tulle and softly designed tulle flowers and this look looks stunning with a simple accesory.

For a little more bling, pair a blingy sash with this same dress from the Bridal Boutique. It gives it a completely different look, depending on your theme and style. Also change the look to a more traditional, classic, elegant bride by pairing it with a short two layered veil. Keep in mind, you don't have to wear the veil over the face. So stunning! Look at how one dress can look so different just by changing accessories. Which look is your favorite?

Below we have provided a third look for the same stunning tulle dress from the Bridal Boutique. We have given it a more simple blingy sash and added a BCGirls crystal headband on duponi silk. This gown can be given a completely different look just by adding our BCGirls lace veil. So stunning! If you want to be accessorized more you can pair a sash and this beautiful lace veil and give it a romantic vintage look.

If you are wanting a little more of a dramatic, elegant look you can pair our chunky pearl necklace with a stunning crystal brooch of your choice. Additionally, pair our Samantha sash with the gown to give it that elegant classy flair!

The last look below is the same gown in our version of a Vera Wang sash, which gives it a soft romantic look, with some drama, yet keeping it elegant and more on the simple sleek side. Which look fits you best?

Accessories 101 : Getting Organized

Good morning everyone! It is a wonderul Saturday here in Oklahoma and we are so excited the weekend is here! We have decided to do a series of Accessory 101 posts for educating our lovely brides out there! Planning your big day is a huge undertaking and you shouldn't do it alone. While we realize accessories are only one piece of your big day, they are a very important piece for many reasons. The accessories are not only eye-catchers, but they help set the tone and theme for your special event. They make a dress unique and give it that extra "pizaz". Our first Accessory 101 session is over "getting organized". Enjoy!

Getting Organized

It is important to gather your visions and thoughts for your wedding day before picking your accessories. Browse magazines, get a wedding planning book and begin the process of organizing your special event. How do you see it playing out, do you see it taking place in the evening (or day time), what will the theme be? Do you want an intimate small wedding or a large lavish affair? Do you want to get married in a church, outdoors or on a beach? Or are you more of a country-chic bride? Do you see yourself in an extravagant ball gown or a more simple sleek vintage gown? These details are all important to allowing your day to unfold properly. All of these visions and details are dependent upon how the rest of your planning will go and look, so it is important to make your vision clear early on. Make sure your vision reflects you and your partner, and who you are. Don't let others plan your big day for you, as the vision won't reflect you. Once you have organized your ideas and thoughts you are ready to embark on your journey!

Establish a theme. Before picking your accessories, as mentioned above, establish the theme and tone of your wedding. Will your theme be that of a vintage soire' or are you a more traditional and classic kind of bride? Choose your colors, venue, begin meeting with vendors, began searching for floral designs you like and get your details in order. Who will your bridesmaids and groomsmen be? Any flower girls and ring bearers? Don't forget the house party! Additionally, set a budget and meet with vendors to see what fits your budget. The budget is important to ensuring your theme is carried out how you envision it. To get organized we recommend you get a wedding planning book and if the budget allows, a wedding planner (or at least day of coordinator).

(Tip 1: DIY weddings are very popular and can be amazingly chic. They are budget friendly, yet they are popular and give that wow-factor every bride wants. Consider getting your friends and bridal party together and doing a lot of the details yourself).

Find the perfect gown. There is no specific ordering to when you can pick your gown, however, it is important that you go gown shopping very early in the process, as gowns can take up to 5 months (or more) to order and receive. Don't feel that you have to have every single detail in order to go on the hunt for that dream dress. Once you are engaged (some go even before. hehe) feel free to begin that hunt. Often brides find that picking that perfect gown sets the tone for their wedding day. It may take you finding your gown to decide what your wedding day will look like. It is very important that you pick the gown BEFORE the accessories, as the accessories play off the gown.

(Tip 2: Try on dresses at several stores. Also, try on a variety of styles - you will never know what WOWs you. Don't just stop at one store, as it is important to experience all of the options out there and the different types of service. As a bride, it is your time to try on all of the fabulous dresses out there and enjoy this time of being catered to like a princess).

The accessory hunt begins.... After you have picked your dress and have a general idea of your theme and how you want your day to look, it is okay to go ahead and look for your accessories (meaning, contact Bridal Couture Girls. teehehe). We recommend that you shop for accessories right after picking your gown, as if you decide to have a custom order made it can take some time, especially during wedding season. Custom orders take anywhere from 4-10 weeks for some busy vendors, but rush orders are available with us. Brides are looking for that WOW-factor and they want something unique, and this is exactly what Bridal Couture Girls offers. By picking your gown, you have set the tone for your big day and the types of accessories that will go with your gown. The accessories should play UP the gown, not play it down, compete or clash with the gown. If your gown is very busy you may want to go with some more subtle accessories. Consider not wearing a necklace and instead wear earings and a headpiece or simple sash. If your gown is simple, play it up with a blingy sash or a headpiece. The key is to not look "too accessorized". With jewelry, less is more these days and brides are wearing earings instead of a necklace, or a bracelet instead of a necklace. Let your sash or headpiece be the statement piece or let the jewerly stand out (but not both). There are so many options but having the gown before picking accessories is key!

(Tip 3 : Sashes are in! Design your own sash that fits your gown perfectly. Even better, you can save it for another black-tie-affair post wedding and pair it with a cocktail gown!)

Happy Friday Friends! I hope you are enjoying your weather wherever you are located. The Oklahoma weather is absolutely lovely and we are enjoying a nice breeze on this Fall day. We are so excited to share our recent Style Me Pretty feature, courtesy of one of our lovely brides, Jenny. Jenny was an absolute delight to work with, such a sweet girl, and she had so many personal touches to her wedding that we just absolutely adored. We were so excited to make Jenny's sash for her gown, as she wanted us to make it out of the fabric from her mother's wedding gown, which made this sash even more special and meaningful to Jenny.

We couldn't wait to share the photos by Elle Parks Photography from Jenny's wedding! Jenny had a truly talented team. In leiu of this wonderful Oklahoma weather, I am so excited to share the final photos from our beach themed shoot with Sky Cheshure Photography, and a host of other amazing vendors, who will be recognized. For information on the vendors for this shoot, please see the vendor list in this blog post.

This beach shoot was so much fun and the photos are truly beautiful. We were so excited when Sky Cheshure Photography asked to feature us and work together on this shoot. We have truly enjoyed building a relationship with Sky and the others that participated. Sky is such a caring person and she really loves what she does and cares about her brides. We are so lucky to have met her and we are so excited for all the wonderful things to come. I can't tell you how blessed we are to work with such wonderful people. We have gotten to know these vendors so well and they are talented, caring and just all around excellent people, and top notch business owners. We highly recommend them to our brides and they are a delight to work with.

The purpose of this shoot came from the lovely photographer herself, Sky. She wanted to show brides that they can have an elegant beach wedding with all of the romantic details. Although it was blazing hot outside (one of the hottest days we have had might I add), we had a fabulous time. Happy 4th of July everyone! It is one hot day in Oklahoma but we are truly enjoying the long holiday weekend. One of our business partners is enjoying her holiday in San Diego and we wish we were all there celebrating together. However, us Oklahoma girls did have a fun-filled weekend of cookouts and swim parties. It couldn't have been better. :) Tonight we are off to see the fireworks.

Rustic Barn Wedding : Arkansas

This rustic, vintage barn wedding has such an incredibly romantic and sophisiticated setting. The BCGirls love the style of this wedding and the location. The Pratt Place Barn in Fayetteville, Arkansas is a stunning prime location for this style of wedding. If you are into a good ole' southern wedding, with some romance on top, this is the place for you. The beauty of this location sparks a vintage and southern appeal. We can picture a bride in a simple, yet elegant gown with her hair down in curls, wearing a long veil for the ceremony, then switching to a simple hair flower fascinator or comb for the reception. Of course, the bride has to wear some stylish cowgirl boots for some super cute pictures. :)

So today, being Friday, I felt like sharing some DIY wedding inspirations. It is rainy in Oklahoma today, so naturally, I feel like bringing some bright, summer ideas into my life right about now. DIY weddings are extremely popular and sooo stinkin' cute. Why not have one? Check out these awesomely beautiful DIY ideas.

This Holman Ranch wedding is just so neat! We love the DIY aspects and the outdoorsy feel. Well, I suppose I shouldn't say "feel" because it is actually in the great outdoors. It is very vintage, quaint and que romantica! We are loving all of the details. How unique and personal, right!

Right this way....

Bridesmaid attire : Mismatch Bridesmaid dresses. Yessssssss please do! This look is just super cute in our book and it couldn't be a better addition for a DIY wedding.

Bridesmaid gifts : If you are looking for a unique way to surprise your bridesmaids with a gift they will LOVE, check out these super uber cute clutches! Luf them!

Floral : There is nothing better (and cheaper) than some really beautiful DIY flower arrangements. You really can't go wrong with a rustic, DIY outdoorsy look. Picking your favorite wild flowers and finding some cute mason jars or vases is the perfect touch!

Get creative with signs and all of the details. Find ways to play up your different tables and displays. Use a play on words, like this this "Sweet Nothings" sign. It is a super easy and CUTE way to jazz up the design... And it's homemade!

Let your guests send their love and encouragement by leaving love notes. Super cute, cheap and easy! Such a great way to involve your guests and take away some great advice from them.

Place Settings : Using your families china is a great way to save money and add a vintage flair to your DIY wedding (or any wedding). If you are going for a shabby chic vintage look this is your meal ticket! Gather up grannies china and reach out to other family members to use their china. Don't worry about mixing and matching, that makes it even more cute, special and unique.

DIY decor : You can find all of the decor you need right in your home (or your nearest craft store). Make some signs, collect some vases and wine bottles, pick some wild flowers and string some lights and this is what you get....

Sweet Treats : Smores anyone? What a great treat for your guests. Having a few different tables of fun deserts like this can cut down the cost and also intice your guests. They will leave loving your ideas and thinking how clever you were and not about how it was all DIY.

Another favorite DIY wedding is the New Zealand wedding by Danelle Bohane.
This wedding is even more simple, yet elegant, and full of DIY aspects. This wedding is chic and vintage and can be done on a low budget, but look spectacular. Take a look...

These centerpieces are even more vintage and simple. These flowers are wildflowers contained in large mason jars and smaller vases. Find some old books and tea cups to add to the vintage look.

We are loving the attire the groom and groomsmen are wearing. The bow ties are in and so are the skinny pants. We love the choice of color and style. This is a FAVE!

We are LOVING these mismatched bridesmaid dresses. Notice that two girls have one floral pattern and the other two have a solid Ivory colored dress. The maid of honor has a completely different dress with a sash added. Yet all of the colors have similar color schemes. Such an eye-catching way to add another element to the wedding.

Vintage Bride : By Paul Houston Photography

We have had the pleasure of working with the oh-so-wonderful and fabulous Sky Cheshure Photography and her better half Paul Houston Photography & Cinema. They are a truly amazing couple and are extremely talented. They have the passion and the eye for what they do. We have so enjoyed getting to know these two and we are honored to be on this project with them. They are so fun and they both are so down-to-earth. Brides, you have to check them out for your wedding needs!

Sky and Paul have set up a wonderful and exciting project including a series of themed photo shoots to showcase not only their work, but several vendors. They have asked us to be featured in this series and needless to say, we were ecstatic and honored. Not only have they caputured the vendors in a stunning way, but they have also shown us how talented they truly are. Personally, I am so amazed by the work Sky and Paul do and how focused they are on making their customers happy. Their goals are to make the vendors and brides happy and it truly shows. Everytime Sky and I talk we always share our passion for our jobs and I believe it really shows in these photos and video. If you are having a fun, outdoorsy wedding have your bridesmaids go for a fun nail color such as this. All you have to do is take a bowl of water, pour the mixture of colors you want in it, the color will float to the top. Then take a tooth pick and swirl the colors around, intermixing them. Then dip your fingers in the bowl and let the color cover your nails. So fun!

Bridesmaid hair? I think so! Check out this cute and easy look for your bridesmaids. If you are going for an earthy, outdoorsy, or DIY wedding this is a great look for your wedding party. And you can do it yourself, without having to hire anyone!

- Day of Assistance - the BCGirls offer a day of service to help brides with their accessories the day of the wedding. The Bridal Couture Girls have had the pleasure of working with some amazing photographers. We are blessed to have wonderful working relationships, and friendships, with many wedding vendors. The wedding industry is truly a great place to be and we are thankful for all of those vendors who have supported the growth of our business.

Our most recent shoot with Sky Cheshure Photography was an absolute blast. We had the pleasure of working with Sky and her "better half" (as sky calls him :) ), Paul Houston, who was the wonderful videographer for the shoot. Sky is a wonderfully talented photographer with the most outgoing, down-to-earth, sweet personality. And Paul is all of the same! The scene for the photo shoot was a vintage tea party set in a romantic forest. Sky used one-of-a-kind vintage tea cups and plates and some extremely unique antique books. Not to mention the antique camera....so awesome! I just loved this theme. Nestled back in her families land, this setting was Que Romantica! We had some wonderful vendors involved in this shoot. Here are a few sneak peaks to check out! We also can't wait to share the video, as Paul is just as talented.

How cute is our beautiful red head model, Makenna. Stunning! And the tea party setting was to die for. Sky captured this photo so beautifully and we love the detail of our BCGirls headpiece, called Daniela.

The Bridal Couture Girls support the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma by giving back to the charity and helping volunteer for their annual Buddy Walk. The Buddy Walk takes place once a year at the Bricktown Ball Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This year the walk is on September 24th, 2011 from 11am - 3pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come, as there are many activities for families and children. All proceeds from the Buddy Walk go towards DSACO and helping those children and families facing down syndrome.

Wedding Day Must Haves!

Every girl needs some direction on the day of her wedding. Emotions are high, along with stress and we have so much on our minds that we just aren't thinking straight. First you run to your hair appointment, which is at an insane hour of 9:00am because the rest of the day is planned out. Then you scurry to your next appointment, all the while making sure all of your other plans are in order for the day. In the meanintime, you aren't even soaking in the day and enjoying what is going on because you have too much on your mind. That is NOT FUN. Forget it girls. You may be organized at home and at work but the day of your wedding can be chaos. Let BCGirls provide some wedding day relief with a few tips, helpful vendors, and some Day Of Must Haves! First things first : Hair. You MUST have someone professional to do your hair the day of the wedding. Don't put the pressure on your best friend, maid of honor, or one of your friends. Get Coordinated. One of the number one recommendations for wedding day must haves is a wedding coordinator/planner. If you don't have the budget to spend on a planner then at least have a "day of coordinator". A lot of wedding planners offer this "day of" service at a reasonable price. One of the worst mistakes brides make is to be the coordinator the day of themselves...bad idea ladies. I know you are capable but this day is for you and the hubby to relax. Don't take on the impossible! This creates chaos for you, as the bride, and also doesn't allow you to enjoy the biggest day of your life. Also, things go very wrong. As the bride, you can't posisbly be everywhere, as you are the center of attention and you can't be coordinating at the same time. The "day of coordinator" will make sure all of the vendors are set up, ready to go and they are communicating. You won't have to worry about the schedule getting messed up or not knowing what comes next at the reception.

Photography. It is important to discuss with the photographer ahead of time what family members will need to be in the family pictures. Family members get inpatient, restless and tend to complain if things aren't organized. Prepare a list for the day of or provide it to the photographer ahead of time. This will allow the process to go smoothly and quickly. Just an additional tid bit....the BCGirls recommend doing ALL of your photos before the wedding ceremony. This allows you to head straight to the reception after your wedding and enjoy your evening. Your family will love you for this as well. For the more traditional brides, plan a special location for your "first look" with your hubby-to-be before the ceremony and have your photographer capture these priceless, first look photos you will cherish for a life time.

Emergency Kit. Pack an emergency kit with floss, deoderant, body spray, safety pins, bobby pins, thread and needle, lip gloss, bronzer, bandaids, and all the goodies you can think of. You will be surprised how often you end up using this kit. It is a life saver!

A Girls Gatta Eat...and Drink. Have some snacks and drinks at the church or venue where you are getting ready. This is important, as it will be a long day and night! You will get hungry and you will need a break with the girls to just sit down, eat, and relax. A little champagne is always fun for a toast, for you and your girls to loosen up and have a laugh. Enjoy the day, laugh and have some bonding time with your girls. This is the only day (hopefully) you will get married...remember it as being fun and relaxing.

Making a list...and checking it twice. Lists are always helpful and on the biggest day of your life a list is a MUST. The night before or morning of your wedding, take some time to sit down and make a "to do" and "to grab" list. You want to make sure you have every single thing for that day. As silly as it sounds, you will want to include items like : wedding dress, bra, marriage license, accessories, shoes, veil, guest book, etc. There are tons of things you have to bring to make this event happen. Don't take a chance of leaving these behind. Also, keep in mind, you are leaving for your honeymoon too so you will want a separate "to do" list for that as well. If you have a coordinator have her/him get your organized.

Spa Day. Every bride and her bridal party deserves a day at the spa. Getting pampered is a must. Brides, arrange a day for you and your bridal party to get massages and manis and pedis. Although most girls typically do this the day before, this can also be a "day of" event. Just make sure you have plenty of time to cram it all in. This will give the girls some time to bond, gossip and do absolutely nothing but relax. Bring some champagne and snacks to the salon and make a day of it.
